TITLE/CODE:                          Director –Marketing

DEPARTMENT:                       Marketing Department

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Position is responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of the Marketing strategy to ensure The Blood Center goals are met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following which may be performed personally or through subordinate managers; other duties may be assigned. Management retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time:

  • The individual will be accountable for the development and implementation of overall brand vision, objectives, strategy, planning processes, positioning, messaging, marketing mix and operational brand plan, to optimize new and existing donors.
  • Creates brand awareness in our community.
  • Ensures the loyalty program, Commit for Life, continues to meet the organization’s needs for donor retention and participation.
  • Oversees implementation of the Marketing strategy - including campaigns, events, digital marketing, and PR.
  • Uses data analytics in decision making.
  • Collaborates with other departments to meet the marketing needs of that group. 
  • Guides the day-to-day activities of the marketing team to ensure objectives are implemented.
  • Oversees social media presence and direct programs to improve social media reputation and recognition.
  • Acts as spokesperson for The Blood Center and maintains positive relationships with media outlets in and around the service area.
  • Manages vendor relationships and monitors effectiveness of their programs.
  • Develops and delivers marketing and communications strategies for the organization.
  • Controls budgets and allocates resources amongst projects.
  • Monitors progress and prepares/submits performance reports.
  • Oversees and ensures effectiveness of internal and external activities related to direct marketing to donors and clients.
  • Enforces The Blood Center's policies on EEO, Affirmative Action and Safety and Health.

Safety

Attendance

Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in The Blood Center’s sole discretion.

Regular Hours

Full time:  must be regularly available to work at least 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, or such other days or hours per week as The Blood Center determines are necessary to meet business needs.

Overtime (applicable only to non-exempt positions)

Must be available and willing to work such overtime per day or per week as The Blood Center determines is necessary or desirable to meet business needs.

Weekend and Holidays

Must be available and willing to work such weekends and holidays as The Blood Center determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.

Off-Site Work

Must occasionally be able to work at off site locations and transport self to same.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages personnel responsible for marketing activities.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Business or Marketing from an accredited college/university and a minimum of three years previous marketing management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Previous supervisory experience and experience in blood banking preferred.  Demonstrated writing experience or aptitude in a regulated environment.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Computer literate: Microsoft Office, flow-charting, data base management.

Ability to develop high level end-user computer skills.
