TITLE/CODE:                          Director - Donor Recruitment and Mobiles

DEPARTMENT:                       Donor Recruitment (Cost Center)

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

This position is responsible for directing the effort to ensure that sufficient quantities and types of donors are recruited and units are collected through mobile blood drives to meet patient needs.     

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned.  Management retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time.

  • Manage all technical and administrative activities related to mobile blood drives.
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures and federal regulations related to the collection of voluntarily donated whole blood and apheresis products
  • Develop, implement, and act upon options to correct inadequacies in the anticipated collections.
  • Analyze and act upon statistical information regarding group and individual goals in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate and control, on a quarterly basis, the advance scheduling of mobile and facility group drives.
  • Participate in establishing immediate, short-term and long-term divisional and departmental goals.
  • Coordinate audit and corrective action activities.
  • Ensure repeat donations by monitoring the Donor Retention Function.
  • Prepare annual department budget and monitor/control expenditures to operate within it.
  • Coordinate training and development activities with the Director of Education and Training.
  • Enforce The Blood Center's policies on EEO, Affirmative Action and Safety and Health.

Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in The Blood Center’s sole discretion.

Regular Hours

Full time:  must be regularly available to work at least 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, or such other days or hours per week as The Blood Center determines are necessary to meet business needs.

Overtime (applicable only to non-exempt positions)

Must be available and willing to work such overtime per day or per week as The Blood Center determines is necessary or desirable to meet business needs.

Must be available and willing to work such weekends and holidays as The Blood Center determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.

Must regularly be able to work at off-site locations and to either transport self or be transported to same.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises subordinate managers in Donor Recruitment and Donor Collections - Mobiles.  Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, scheduling and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  MBA strongly preferred.  Experience must include minimum of 5 years in a progressively responsible management position, preferably in the area of sales, marketing or recruitment

Exceptional interpersonal and customer services skills are required.  Ability to determine priority of goals for multiple projects and ability to maintain perspective in unusual or stressful situations are essential characteristics.  Excellent oral and written communication skills are required to successfully interact with employees, management, regulatory agencies and the public.
