TITLE/CODE:                          Senior Manager - Mobile Operations

DEPARTMENT:                       Mobile Operations

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Reporting to the VP of Operations, position is responsible for oversight of day-to-day operation of mobile-based donor collection programs and coordination of projects. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned.  Management retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time.

  • Ensure operational, collection, compliance and financial goals applicable to Mobiles are met.

  • Identify and implement strategic initiatives in support of goal attainment..

  • Prepare and monitor the annual budget for collections, to assure proper departmental financial control and accountability.

  • Prepare and conduct performance appraisals for mobile Managers.

  • Review collection and operating reports and resolve operational, production, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

  • Benchmark and assess new methods to improve cost effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Monitor and ensure adherence to all existing policies, standard operating procedures and federal regulations related to the collection of voluntarily donated whole blood and apheresis products.

  • Continually monitor performance of management staff to facilitate open communications, clarity of expectations, and retention of staff and attainment of operational and collection goals.

  • Regularly communicate with staff to ensure comprehension of goals and commitment to the Blood Center’s Mission.

  • Ensure collection functions are current as to equipment, training and technology.

  • Compile, review and report on monthly collection statistics.

  • Regularly expected to attend industry conventions and workshops to stay current with industry trends and maintain positive relationships with clients, vendors and competitors.

  • Assist the VP of Operations, as needed.

  • Enforce The Blood Center's policies on EEO, Affirmative Action and Safety/Health.

Attendance

Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in The Blood Center’s sole discretion.

Regular Hours

Full time:  must be regularly available to work at least 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, or such other days or hours per week as The Blood Center determines are necessary to meet business needs.

Overtime (applicable only to non-exempt positions)

Must be available and willing to work such overtime per day or per week as The Blood Center determines is necessary or desirable to meet business needs.

Weekend and Holidays

Must be available and willing to work such weekends and holidays as The Blood Center determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises Mobile Operations Managers and Coordinators in the Mobile Operations Department.  Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these managers.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, scheduling and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in management or a medical-related field from an accredited four-year college or university or plus 5 years of management experience in an allied health environment, preferably to include experience in blood banking, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Working knowledge of phlebotomy and apheresis techniques strongly preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.  Must be able to apply statistical trends to real life applications to include future forecasting.
