Reporting to the Consultation & Reference Manager, this position oversees operations and assists in managing the Consultation & Reference Laboratory. Key responsibilities include supervising staff, maintaining policies, procedures, and quality control practices, and fostering strong customer, interdepartmental, and intradepartmental relationships. This role is great for those who work with precision, are inquisitive, have a knack for quality and take pride in delivering quality service to community partners and patients.

In this role, you’ll:
- Oversee daily operations of laboratory and ensure efficiency and compliance.
- Ensure strategic and operational objectives are met.
- Assists with the preparation and monitoring of the annual C&R lab budget to maintain financial control.
- Support, guide, and evaluate staff to promote open communication, clear expectations, and retention.
- Compile, review, and report monthly laboratory operation statistics.
- Serve as liaison between the laboratory and other departments; communicate with the Medical Director as needed.
- Collaborate on preparations for internal and external Blood Center assessments.
- Participate in the development and revision of SOPs, forms, abstracts, articles, and technical papers.
- Enforce The Blood Center’s policies on Equal Employment Opportunity and Safety/Health.
We need someone who has:
- SBB Certification from ASCP (Specialist in Blood Banking)
- At least 6 years of recent blood banking experience (within the past 2 years)
- Minimum of 3 years of Immunohematology Reference Laboratory experience
- Strong leadership and workflow process acumen
- At least 2 years of successful management experience in a clinical or laboratory setting
DIPLOMA OR TRANSCRIPT MUST BE PROVIDED AND KEPT IN PERSONNEL FILE FOR EMPLOYEES PERFORMING MODERATE OR HIGH COMPLEXITY TESTING (per CLIA regulations)
