TITLE/CODE: Coordinator – Communications

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
This position is responsible for general management, collaboration and oversight for interdepartmental communications projects, initiatives or programs designed to ensure attainment of organizational goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, as well as, other duties that may be assigned. Management retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time:
- Collaborates with marketing department leadership to ensure the organization’s image is positively maintained through internal and external communications pieces such as the employee newsletter, employee memos, customer service concerns or management support documents to include, but not limited to, drafting letters, supervisors’ talking points, or crisis communication.
- Develops copy for press releases, fact sheets and other media and promotional materials.
- Works collaboratively with the Digital Marketing Manager to create content needed for digital communication with donors.
- Writes scripts for social media videos and other external events hosted by marketing department.
- Reviews and edits all printed and digital materials prior to distribution.
- Develops stories and creates pages for all internal and external newsletters.
- Helps develop and deliver marketing and communications strategies for the organization.
- Enforces The Blood Center's policies on EEO and Safety/Health.

Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in The Blood Center’s sole discretion.
Full time: must be regularly available to work at least 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, or such other days or hours per week as The Blood Center determines are necessary to meet business needs.
Overtime (applicable only to non-exempt positions)
Must be available and willing to work such overtime per day or per week as The Blood Center determines is necessary or desirable to meet business needs.
Weekend and Holidays
Must be available and willing to work such weekends and holidays as The Blood Center determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
Must be able to work at off-site locations occasionally and to transport self to same.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in marketing, communication, public relations or a related field; and a minimum of three years related experience. Demonstrated writing experience or aptitude in a regulated environment is required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Computer Literate: Microsoft Office, Desktop Publishing
