Position Title: Donor Collections Operations Manager

This position is responsible for management and coordination of all administrative, operational and technical aspects of Donor Collections programs within designated geographical areas, including Mobile Operations and Neighborhood Donor Centers (NDCs). The Collections Operations Manager is responsible for the overall management activity for all assigned Collections teams.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Oversee administrative, operational, technical, clinical and medical aspects of whole blood, apheresis and special collections at all Collections locations.
  • Coordinate operational activities to ensure consistency in functionality across all locations.
  •  Maintain a high level of communication with Donor Collections Leaders.  Maintain in-depth knowledge of applicable regulations and ensure Collections operations are compliant and current as to equipment, training, technology, proficiency and documentation.
  • Perform site visits/assessments of NDC and Mobile blood drives for direct observations and onsite coaching.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and development opportunities for Collections staff and leaders to foster career development.
  • Conduct regular meetings with leaders and staff to resolve problems and communicate information regarding organizational priorities and goals.
  • Determine priority goals for multiple projects, make independent decisions, provide leadership, exhibit good judgment skills, and maintain perspective in unusual or stressful situations.
  • Review and analyze staff performance data.  Work with leaders to recognize successes and address deficiencies.  Monitor and measure overall metrics to ensure the department achieves overall departmental goals.
  • Monitor blood drives daily to assess efficiency and effectiveness.  Address deficiencies and recognize successes.
  • Hold Collections leaders accountable for their team operational metrics.
  • Responsible for effectively managing the Retention and Turnover metrics for assigned Collections teams.
  • Collaborates and manages the implementation of Donor Collections risk and safety initiatives.
  • Monitor, develop and revise standard operational and work practices in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Identify process improvements and resolve operational issues both intra- and interdepartmentally.
  • Assist the Director of Donor Collections and Senior Donor Collections Zone Operations Managers, as needed.
  • Enforce The Blood Center's policies on EEO and Safety/Health.
  • All duties as assigned

 

We need someone who has:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university preferably in business or a science related field plus five years’ experience in blood banking or a related medical field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum three years of supervisory/management experience.   
  • Knowledge of phlebotomy and apheresis techniques strongly preferred.
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License plus acceptable driving record.
  • Preferred, but not required:  Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) who can fulfill a CLIA Technical Consultant role.

Job duties involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood with a risk of exposure to Hepatitis and HIV.
