TITLE:                                    Mobile Team Supervisor III

DEPARTMENT:                      Mobiles

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Reporting to the Manager, Mobile Collections, the Mobile Team Supervisor III has overall responsibility for the coordination, set up, supervision, compliance and customer service aspects of mobile blood drives of any size or complexity as well as mentoring and training other staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned.  Management retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time.

·        Coordinate activities to ensure efficient operation of mobile blood drives.

·        Ensure compliance with existing policies and procedures; communicate information including policy and procedure changes to staff and enforce all administrative and technical policies with staff.

·        Act as mentor to new staff and supervisors and assistant supervisors.

·        Advise the Manager - Mobiles and/or Operations Coordinators on the operation of the mobile blood drive to include immediate notification of technical or administrative mishaps.

·        Monitor overall performance of subordinate Supervisors and staff.   Work with Managers and/or Operation Coordinators to recognize successes and areas requiring improvement.

·        Assist in overtime control by adjusting staff utilization to donor flow.

·        Perform pre-donation screening, venipuncture and post-venipuncture care of volunteer donors as described in Technical standard operating procedure manual.

·        Assist with the unloading, set-up, breakdown and reloading of portable equipment.

·        Perform mobile drive site inspections as needed, and complete required forms.

·        Act as interface with Donor Recruitment and Mobile Drive Chairperson to ensure smooth operation of blood drive.

·        Maintain Quality Control by performing calibration of mobile equipment and making adjustments as necessary and reporting malfunction to the necessary parties.

·        Promote a positive image of the Blood Center, Mobile Section and team within the organization.

·        Maintain cleanliness of inside of assigned vehicle.

·        Attend meetings and seminars as required.

·        Assist in the evaluation of new products and equipment pertaining to donor collections.

·        Monitor and prevent loss, abuse or waste of equipment and supplies, making sure equipment is replaced, repaired and working on proper vehicles. Maintain upkeep of assigned departmental equipment.

·        Assure the completion of all official records in an accurate, legible, and timely manner.

·        Actively recruit Donors.

·        Act as mentor/trainer for mobile staff and subordinate supervisors.

·        Enforce the Blood Center’s policies regarding EEO, Safety and Affirmative Action.

Attendance

Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in The Blood Center’s sole discretion.

Regular Hours

Full time:  must be regularly available to work at least 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, or such other days or hours per week as The Blood Center determines are necessary to meet business needs.

Overtime (applicable only to non-exempt positions)

Must be available and willing to work such overtime per day or per week as The Blood Center determines is necessary or desirable to meet business needs.

Weekend and Holidays

Must be available and willing to work such weekends and holidays as The Blood Center determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.

Off-Site Work

Must be regularly able to work at off-site locations and to either transport self or be transported to same.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises teams of employees in Donor Collection mobile drives.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school Diploma or GED, Associates Degree from an accredited institution is strongly preferred; must have proven record of proficiency in supervisory positions of increasing responsibility, preferably in blood banking environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Experience must include working in a position involving frequent interaction with the public and the use of customer service skills.

Internal candidates must have minimum of one year of experience as Mobile Team Supervisor II with demonstrated competence in all aspects of Mobile Team Supervisor II’s position or equivalent internal supervisory/technical experience. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Certificate of Phlebotomy desirable

EMT Certification or Associate Degree in a related field strongly preferred

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

Ability to establish and maintain positive rapport with donors so as to provide high level of customer service.  Ability to interact professionally and politely with others.  Ability to work in high pressure, fast paced environment.  Ability to resolve conflicts.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Job duties involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood with a risk of exposure to Hepatitis and HIV.
