Position Title: Regional Operations Driver - Part Time

The Regional Operations Driver is responsible for Transports/delivers by vehicle blood samples, blood and blood products and supplies.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Deliver blood components to and pickup returns from designated locations, packing all units (tubes and records) to maintain required temperature range during transit ensuring every components’ highest quality while ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Perform visual inspections and verify numbering, labeling and appearance of all units selected for delivery to ensure quality control standards are met.
  • Place returned units on designated observation shelves, notifying supervisor or laboratory personnel of any abnormalities.
  • Initiate and complete documents for consignment and return of blood components to designated locations, providing copies to appropriate personnel/hospitals.
  • Transport supplies, mail, etc. to and from facilities.
  • Construct shipping boxes, ice bags and complete waybills as needed/directed.
  • Perform the Stoplight computer check on each consignment delivered to ensure proper, accurate, and adequate receipt of products.
  • Maintain all assigned vehicles and equipment in a clean and safe operating manner.
  • Perform quality assurance/quality control activities as assigned.
  • All duties as assigned.

We need someone who has:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED; No previous experience or training required.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License (TDL) plus acceptable driving record 
  • Must meet standards of The Blood Center’s Vehicle Safety Program

Employee must occasionally push and/or pull up to 150 pounds. Employees are required to be familiar with requirements as specified in the Safety Program in an effort to prevent bodily injury and for the health and safety of others. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and blood and/or blood components, as well as any other biohazard materials.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Job duties involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood with a risk of exposure to Hepatitis and HIV.
