Position Title: Cellular Therapy Lab Specialist

Reporting to the Manager, Quality Control Laboratory, position is part of the core leadership team and is responsible for the technical, operational, training and compliance functions of the Cellular Therapy Laboratory (CTL) within the Quality Control Laboratory.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Adheres to policies, procedures and standards within regulatory compliance, as well as time management, productivity, and accuracy of practice.
  • Perform all aspects of flow cytometry testing and analysis, including calibrating instrumentation, setting up samples, fine-tuning gating techniques, and preparing and maintaining reagents.
  • Must be able to work independently, lead the development of new methodologies and procedures, and make recommendations for implementation.
  • Effectively communicates with the Cellular Life Solutions (CLS) department and clients to provide test results and services requested.
  • Routinely performs flow cytometry-based assays as well as CBC and differential using an automated hematology analyzer meeting procedural timelines.
  • Performs quality control on equipment prior to use and conducts preventative maintenance as required.
  • Monitor physical inventory of reagents, supplies, etc. 
  • Coordinates, monitors and performs equipment/reagent maintenance, validation, and qualification activities.
  • Maintains critical and non-critical equipment and supply lists.
  • Coordinates and oversees training program and schedules for new hires and current staff.
  • Coordinates, monitors and/or delivers competency and proficiency assessments of other employees.
  • Attends meetings, coordinates and executes change management which impacts the CTL.
  • Authors new and revises existing controlled documents reflecting the work performed.
  • Works with QC Lab scheduling staff, to coordinate CTL coverage.
  • Follows SOPs and complies with OSHA, FDA, AABB, FACT, cGMPs and other regulatory standards.
  • Proactively recommends systems, resources, and procedures to achieve department success.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
  • Complete at least 12 hours of continuing education per year.
  • Perform essential duties of QC Lab Specialist and assist as needed.

 

We need someone who:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a clinical or life science-related field from an accredited college or university, and at least three years prior job-related experience (within the past 2 years)
  • MT/MLS (ASCP or equivalent) is preferred.

DIPLOMA OR TRANSCRIPT MUST BE PROVIDED AND KEPT IN PERSONNEL FILE FOR EMPLOYEES PERFORMING MODERATE OR HIGH COMPLEXITY TESTING
