In this role, you’ll:

  • Acts as backup Collections Supervisor and will work in collections as needed.
  • Assists Operations Manager in determining training objectives and strategies.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of best practices in training concepts and procedures.
  • Following prepared curricula, conducts training classes both in the classroom and in actual donor collections’ settings.
  • Recommends design and format of training materials and assists in the preparation of same as needed.
  • Oversees preparation of materials for educational activities and employee training, including in-services, SOP materials and test materials.
  • Explores new ideas in training workflows in visionary concepts to promote dynamic learning options in brainstorming, design sessions.
  • Presents information using a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos or lectures.
  • Administers competency exams for trainers and prepares assessment reports on trainees.
  • Conducts assessments and reports on effectiveness of training programs. Assists in the development of curriculum as needed.
  • Assists Training Manager in coordinating trainers’ schedules as needed.
  • Evaluates training efficiency and the business impact to customers through formalized metrics.  
  • Teaches (Screening, Phlebotomy and Apheresis) independently.
  • Must become competent in all trainings offered to Donor Collection staff and must serve as Training Validator.
  • Trains staff employed in the positions of T4T and Field Trainer.
  • Validates that trainer and T4T staff can deliver field training in its entirety and independently.
  • Performs annual staff certification and competency assessments in CPR, First Aid and other areas as required.
  • Maintains proficient knowledge of Blood Center policies, AABB standards, FDA regulations, Standard Operating Procedures and ensures practices trained follow cGMPs and comply with all applicable regulations.
  • Responsible for managing and owning organizational communications to ensure employees have knowledge of training events and resources.
  • Must be able to effectively demonstrate the ability to use sound judgment with the ability to lead and influence training team members.
  • Communicates with internal and external customers and responds to client concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provides assessment, evaluation, monitoring and support of all aspects of collection site (Mobiles/NDCs) as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

We need someone who has:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in medical or adult education or related field plus 4 or more years of experience in medical training (phlebotomy experience a plus)
  • 1 year experience in adult education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic CardioLife Support Certificate (BCLS) or CPR Certification
  • Donor Phlebotomy Technician (ASCP) Certification
  • Trainer Certification (NCCT)
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to blood and/or blood components, as well as any other biohazard materials.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; risk of radiation; and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but sometimes requires working at chemical plants, electrical plants, machine shops, where you may encounter chemicals, loud noises.
